Microbiological analysis on cosmetics and personal care

Chemical and microbiological analysis dedicated to cosmetics and personal care products concern raw materials, semi-finished and finished products are used to monitor every aspect of quality and safety of the entire production process, with particular attention to microbiological risk, allergen components and verification of the presence of contaminants.

 

Furthermore, the analysis are also aimed at verifying the stability of the product in terms of the reliability of its efficacy and safety. In particular, the challenge test is one of the most important to reproduce, in a controlled setting, the reaction of the product to possible microbiological contamination both during processing and storage, and during the period of actual use by consumers.

 

Below, are the main microbiological analysis on cosmetics:

  • Counting of aerobic mesophilic viable bacteria;
  • Counting of fungi and yeats;
  • Detection of pseudomonas aeruginosa;
  • Detection of candida albicans, escherichia coli, stafylococcus aureus;
  • Challenge test;
  • Stability test.

Here below are the chemical analysis on cosmetics and personal care products:

  • Density;
  • Viscosity;
  • pH;
  • Heavy Metals, especially Nickel detection;
  • Antioxidants (BHA, BHT, Tocopherols);
  • Contaminants / Aromatic solvents, chlorinated solvents).

Other evaluations:

  • Product shelf life since opening (PAO).
