Today, the technique of choice for GMO analysis is real-time PCR, which allows qualitative and quantitative DNA analysis using oligonucleotides and fluorescent probes specific to one or more GMOs.
Using PCR, the laboratory performs GMO screening on food products to identify common elements with genetically modified plants. The test is performed with Applied Biosystem’s 7500 Fast Real-time PCR System instrumentation and the TaqMan® GMO Screening kit. This kit allows the detection of all transgenic events authorised by the European Union. The 35S promoter and the NOS terminator, which are the regulatory elements traditionally analysed during screening, are sought. In addition, to achieve a broader spectrum of detection, the kit includes the 34S promoter (FMV).
The screening procedure offered by the Chemiservice laboratory has been accredited ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 on vegetable fats, oils and flours containing ingredients from these plants
Our methods are based on official JRC and ISO methods and guarantee the minimum performance requirements as stipulated by the JRC, the European reference laboratory for GMO testing
Our methods are certified ISO/IEC 17025:2017
The laboratory annually participates in FAPAS Proficiency Tests for each accredited GMO analytical method.
