Chemical analyses on food

Chemical, microbiological and molecular biological analyses on matrices of food for human or animal consumption, raw materials, semi-finished products and finished products

The Chemiservice chemical analysis laboratory has gained significant experience in performing chemical analyses on a wide range of food products

List of food products subjected to chemical analyses

  • Bakery products
  • Seafood products
  • Meat products and preparations
  • Fruit, vegetables and derived products
  • Preserved and semi-preserved products
  • Gastronomy products

Objectives of the Chemiservice laboratory testing

  • Verify compliance with the product classifications required by national and EU legislation;
  • Verify the conformity of products for export to non-EU countries;
  • Verify the conformity of food with the commercial specifications and large-scale distribution;
  • Verify the conformity of food with the PDO/PGI manufacturing technical specifications;
  • Verify the safety of food products in relation to the current legislation on contaminants;
  • Shelf-Life studies;
  • Nutritional Profile Verification – Nutritional Tables Processing;
  • Health profile assessment;
  • Check health and nutrition claims (Regulation EC 1924/2006 and EU Regulation 432/2012);
  • Technical Data Sheets consulting;
  • Consulting on the development of Self-monitoring (own-check activity) Analytical Plans or the implementation of Quality Management Systems;
  • Verify compliance with the Analytical Plans provided for by the Quality Standards such as BRC, ISF.

Chemical analyses on contaminants and food safety

Food safety is the fundamental aim of every food company. An objective regardless of the size of the companies involved and the type of products. For this reason, the food analysis laboratory can provide analytical services on a wide variety of matrices.

Detection of pesticides

Multiresidue analysis with more than 500 active molecules to assess compliance with current legislation with short response times (also within 24 hours) thanks to state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation available in the laboratory.

  • Heavy metals
  • Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs)
  • Mineral oils and process contaminants such as MOSH AND MOAH and plasticizer residues (phthalates)
  • Mycotoxins (aflatoxins, ochratoxin, zearalenone, deoxynivalenol, trichothecenes in cereals and derived products, feed and fatty substances)
  • Detection of allergens
  • GMO
  • Alcohol by volume
  • Free and total sulfur dioxide
  • Volatile and total acidity
  • Density and relative density
  • Metals (Cadmium, Copper, Iron, Nickel, Lead, Zinc)
  • pH
  • Glucose e Fructose

The Chemiservice chemical analysis laboratory offers support to food companies and large-scale distribution in the study of the aging of a food product under normal and/or accelerated conditions for its entire commercial life.

  • Chemical analysis (pH, acidity, humidity, fatty substance)
  • Microbiological analysis (bacterial load, fungi, pathogens)
  • Organoleptic analysis (appearance, smell, taste, consistency, color)
